Jackie our pastry chef has done us proud with her inspired Jubilee Afternoon Tea and artistically created a most stylish selection of home-made goodies for you to enjoy: Battenburg Union Jack cake, mini Queen Victoria sponge, Royal meringue swan and Jubilee cherry compote, served with finger sandwiches of smoked salmon, egg and cress and Coronation chicken – all scrumptious and with a pot of tea or cup of coffee for just £8.95. This special Jubilee Tea is available until Tuesday 5 June – do hope you will be able to join us and celebrate this historic occasion.
To continue with the Jubilee theme we also have more decorated gifts in the Farmshop of teapots, milk jugs, mugs and cushions to add to the festive air.
In time for this gorgeous sun, we are well stocked with ice-cream including Farmer Bills and Alder Tree’s handy individual tubs with yummy flavours like caramel and toasted pecan, gooseberry and elderflower and a zingy lemon sorbet. Benson’s Chilly Billy ice-lollies will appeal too – just frozen apple juice with another fruit like mango, blackcurrant or raspberry; no sugar, water or preservatives that makes a very healthy, refreshing snack. We are also trying a new brand from a family business New Forest Ice-cream – do give us your feedback.
We’re pleased to have completed laying the turf round the terrace and have also planted rosemary so we are looking smart from the Cafe. Managed also to complete the planting – by hand – of 11,000 crowns of asparagus and the last of the strawberry plants will go in next week.
