Our strawberries have really come on with the recent sun – bursting with sweetness and flavour. If you’ve a bit of time do consider pick-your-own. All our strawberries are grown on tabletops, so at waist height it is much more comfortable to pick and the fields are only a short walk from the car park – great value too at £2 per 1lb or £4.40 per kilo.
In the Shop
We also have plenty of ready-picked strawberries in the shop and are still picking our own asparagus.
Cheese Tasting – Parmesan 14 July
Ben our cheerful cheese man is bringing a magnificent 40 kg wheel of Parmesan. It is 2 years old, a peak age for this fragrant and tangy cheese. Do stop and chat with Ben and have a taste of one of the world’s most popular cheeses – Parmigiano reggiano to give it its protected name.
In the Café
There are a couple of alterations in the Café as we are creating a larger display area for our homemade cakes and patisserie and we now have a licence, so are also installing units for the selection of beers and wines that will shortly be on offer.
Saturday 7 July is day 50 of the Olympic torch route when it will be travelling from Chelmsford to Cambridge and passing close to Pearce’s. If you are planning on lining the streets to cheer on the torchbearers, it starts at Ware at 10.41 am and then Bishops Stortford start is at 11.41 am – do join us for a cup of tea or coffee afterwards.
